Colombo is the capital of Srilanka and one of the beautiful cities of the Srilanka. The metro may have around 6 million population and the most happening city of the country.

If you are travelling to colombo and like to shop something, the following are the things you can shop for:

  • Wooden sculptures - They are beautiful, but costly at colombo high end shops. Chose it wisely

  • Gems - Sapphire, Zircon, Ruby, Topaz - Srilankan Ruby is famous, but buy from recognized Government shops/reputed sellers

  • Clothing - There are plenty of clothes manufactured in Srilanka and also imported from South east asian countries. Women skirts, tops, shirts and Polos are available at reasonable prices

  • Souvenirs - If you want to buy souvenirs, you can buy near Pettah - A location famous for its open air shopping areas or near srilanka National monument.

  • Tea/Coffee - Lucky to travel to T estates of Nuvera eliya or Matara districts, there are best tea available.

Srilanka & Ramayana:

Srilanka and india have thousands of years of historical connections from Ramayana days. Infact King Vijaya who settled in Srilanka from present day Bengal established the kingdom and there are many anecdotes in Mahavamsa and Dipavamsa illustrating srilankan history.

To support the historical evidences, there are buddhist temples having relics of Lord Buddha, Lord Shiva temples and temples for Anjeneya and Vibhishana at colombo and all around the country.

There are several Shiva temples in and around Colombo and Buddhist temples - Sri Ponnambalam Vanesar temple is worth visiting.
